Okay, quick guess the plot question to start us off.
Steve:Which picture book has the plot, Family Searches for Bear?
Lovella:Ooh, uh, oh, we're going on a bear hunt?
Steve:That's correct.
Steve:Welcome to Kids vs. Parents, I'm Steve.
Lovella:And I'm Lovella.
Steve:The family trivia battle where the back seat takes on the front seat.
Lovella:Today we're playing Guess the Plot, and the topic is picture books.
Steve:Yay!
Lovella:So Dad, how do we play Guess the Plot?
Steve:It's easy.
Steve:We're going to give each other four words to explain the plot of a picture book
Steve:and we have to guess which picture book we're talking about.
Steve:So there will only be four words, four clues to help us figure it out.
Steve:So I hope you've been doing your reading, Lavelle.
Steve:You've been reading a lot of bigger books now.
Steve:You're kind of beyond picture books.
Lovella:I'm beyond picture books.
Lovella:I still like them though.
Steve:Yeah, you'll have to go back to your memory of picture books.
Steve:Which is not very clear.
Steve:Before we get started today, a big shout out to this week's top city for our listeners,
Steve:which was?
Lovella:New York, New York.
Steve:The Big Apple.
Lovella:The Big Apple.
Steve:All right, what are we playing for today, Lovella?
Lovella:Today's prize is picking the bedtime story.
Steve:Oh, how appropriate.
Lovella:I know.
Steve:It's great.
Steve:Okay, so the winner gets to choose the book that is read at bedtime today.
Steve:All right, who goes first, Lovella?
Lovella:Ooh, how about the parents?
Steve:Oh, you're going to make us go all the way back to our childhood first.
Lovella:Oh, yeah, and I know that's hard for you.
Steve:It is. Okay, let's get into it, parents. We're up first. Dust off the book covers. Here we go.
Lovella:All right. Plot number one. Pigeon demands driving privileges.
Steve:Pigeon demands driving privileges.
Steve:Pigeon.
Steve:Oh, is this those Elephant and Piggy books?
Steve:Like, I'm on the right track.
Steve:I'm on the right track.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:Mo Willems, right?
Steve:He's got, yes, because the pigeon appears in some of those books.
Steve:I remember Milo telling me about those.
Steve:So what's the book called?
Steve:Pigeon likes to drive.
Steve:Pigeon drives a car.
Steve:Pigeon learns to drive.
Steve:Pigeon.
Steve:What's your guess?
Steve:I don't know.
Steve:Is it something like that?
Steve:Pigeon.
Steve:The pigeon.
Steve:Pigeon learns to drive.
Lovella:Is that your guess?
Steve:What is your guess?
Steve:I don't think I know.
Steve:Pigeon.
Steve:I don't know the answer.
Lovella:The answer was, don't let the pigeon drive the bus.
Steve:Don't let the pigeon drive the bus.
Steve:Right.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:I think I have read that book before.
Lovella:I like those books.
Lovella:Those were good ones.
Steve:All right.
Steve:Well done.
Lovella:All right, dad.
Lovella:You ready for the second plot?
Steve:I'm ready for my second book.
Lovella:Plot number two. Selfless tree gives everything.
Steve:Okay. I know this one. It's been a long, long time since reading this picture book,
Steve:But this is the giving tree.
Steve:Correct.
Steve:Yay.
Steve:Nice.
Steve:That's a good one.
Steve:That's a very old classic book, that one.
Steve:All right.
Steve:I'm finally on the board.
Lovella:All right.
Lovella:Third plot.
Lovella:Little engine proves determination.
Lovella:Determination.
Steve:Little engine proves determination.
Steve:This has got to be the little engine that could.
Lovella:Is that your guess?
Steve:Yeah, that's my guess.
Lovella:Correct.
Steve:Yes.
Lovella:Good job.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Is this the one that the ride's based on?
Lovella:At Disneyland?
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Is it?
Steve:I think I can.
Steve:I think I can.
Lovella:Maybe.
Steve:Is that that one?
Lovella:That book?
Lovella:I think the Casey Jr. ride is based off of Dumbo.
Steve:Oh, because Casey Jr. trains in Dumbo.
Lovella:And that's what it says in the movie.
Steve:The little engine that could.
Steve:So I don't think there is any relation.
Lovella:Maybe the movie and the thing was also based off that.
Steve:Maybe.
Steve:Maybe they took inspiration from the book.
Lovella:I don't know.
Lovella:Okay.
Lovella:Search it up.
Steve:Anyway, I've got it right.
Lovella:All right.
Lovella:I'll take it.
Lovella:So, Dad, you've got...
Steve:Two.
Lovella:Two out of three so far.
Lovella:So last one.
Steve:Last chance.
Lovella:Here we go.
Lovella:Fish shares shimmering scales.
Steve:Fish shares shimmering scales.
Steve:Okay, with all these S's and sh's, it's got to be Dr. Seuss, but I don't think I can remember
Steve:the name of the book.
Steve:Is it?
Steve:I know I can see it.
Steve:I can see the fish on the book and I can't think of the title right now.
Steve:Is it Cat in the Hat?
Steve:I'm just going to say Cat in the Hat.
Lovella:Incorrect.
Lovella:It was actually Rainbow Fish.
Steve:Oh, Rainbow Fish.
Steve:Okay, no, that's not Dr. Seuss.
Lovella:Yeah, no, you were way off.
Steve:I was way off.
Steve:Well, I'm not way off.
Steve:It's kind of got a Dr. Seuss vibe about it.
Steve:That clue does.
Steve:But okay.
Steve:All right.
Steve:I did not get that one.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I think I remember that cover.
Steve:It's a big fish on the cover.
Lovella:Yeah.
Steve:It's like rainbow scales.
Steve:A rainbow fish.
Lovella:I think.
Lovella:Yeah.
Lovella:Well, good job.
Lovella:You got two out of four, which isn't bad.
Lovella:That's okay.
Steve:I was actually hoping to do a bit better than that,
Steve:but because I feel like you're going to do very well at this one.
Lovella:I don't know.
Steve:We're about to find out.
Steve:Kids, open up your books.
Steve:It's time for story time.
Steve:Oh, boy.
Steve:All right.
Steve:Kids.
Steve:four-word plot on picture books.
Steve:Are you ready?
Lovella:Yep.
Steve:Here's your first plot.
Steve:Hungry Bug Becomes Butterfly.
Lovella:Oh, Hungry Bug Becomes Butterfly.

Steve:Uh-huh.
Lovella:Oh, I know.
Lovella:The Hungry Caterpillar.
Steve:Oh, do I give it to her, everybody?
Lovella:What is it?
Steve:Do I give it to her?
Lovella:The Hungry…
Steve:You're missing one word.
Steve:Just one word.
Lovella:Oh, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Steve:Yes, you got it.
Steve:Well done.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:I was nearly going to take it off you.
Lovella:Oh, I love that book.
Steve:That's a good book, isn't it?
Lovella:I remember reading that constantly.
Steve:Yeah, that's a fun one.
Steve:On Tuesday, I ate a strawberry.
Steve:And on Thursday…
Lovella:I ate five pairs.
Steve:Yeah, fun book.
Steve:Okay, plot number two.
Steve:Boy rules wild monsters
Lovella:What? Say it again
Steve:Boy rules wild monsters
Lovella:Oh man, I don't know
Lovella:Boy rules wild monsters?
Lovella:Mm-hmm
Lovella:Uh...
Lovella:I really don't know.
Lovella:Yeah, I don't know.
Steve:No?
Lovella:Have I read this?
Lovella:Do you know if I've read this?
Steve:I think you have read it.
Steve:It would have been a long time ago.
Lovella:I don't know.
Lovella:What is it?
Steve:Where the Wild Things Are.
Lovella:I think I, that title sounds familiar.
Steve:He has a dream and he goes into another world where there's all these kind of monsters and
Steve:he's kind of the king.
Steve:He ends up being the king of the land.
Lovella:Not ringing a bell.
Steve:Goes on a boat.
Lovella:Nope.

Steve:Wonder if I stumped any other kids in the car and find out.
Steve:All right.
Steve:Plot number three.

Lovella:Party ruined by salsa?
Steve:Uh-huh.
Lovella:Oh my gosh.

Lovella:It's the pug ones.
Lovella:Pig the pug or something.
Lovella:Pig the pug.

Steve:That's what this round is for.
Steve:This one's worth two points, this question.
Lovella:Yep.
Steve:And it's up for anybody to answer.
Lovella:All you have to do is buzz in.
Lovella:First person to buzz and get the correct answer wins.
Lovella:But if you buzz in and you get the incorrect answer, that means the point goes to the other team.
Steve:That's right.
Steve:So double points could go to me if you get it wrong.
Steve:So make sure you're right when you buzz in.
Steve:All right.
Steve:Are you ready, Lovella?
Lovella:I think so.

Steve:Yeah, be confident.
Lovella:Cat in the hat.
Steve:I think you're right.
Steve:I'm going to scroll down too and have a look.
Steve:It's got to be Dr. Seuss.
Steve:Cat in the hat.
Steve:You are correct, Dr. Seuss.
Steve:Well done, Lovella.
Steve:Kids win.
Steve:You win the picture book round.
Steve:Congratulations, which means you get to pick the story tonight.

Steve:You're never too old for a picture book, Lovella, right?
Steve:Maybe you're too old for your dad to read your picture books.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:But you're never too old to read them yourself.
Steve:Why don't you read a picture book tonight?
